Lack of standing

Lack of Standing is a term explained in relation to the creditor. If they cannot prove that that they have a business relationship with you then they have no right to garnish your wages. Sometimes creditors sell their debt to “debt buyers” which are usually collection agencies who purchase the debt at a fraction of the cost, they then try to collect the rest of the debt from you for a profit.

The “debt buyers” must prove that they have a business relationship with the debtor. Debts can exchange hands multiple times. If the debt buyer cannot link their paper trail via the contracts that were signed then they have no case.
